I've arrived!!

Well, I am in Spain! Without my luggage...but still in Spain. Apparently Delta airlines doesn't like me very much. In Detroit they told me my luggage would go to Spain, and then in New York they reassured me that my bags would meet me in Spain, however they did not. I was told that they were still in New York! So, I went to the bus station and bought a ticket, and lo and behold, I get a phone call that they have one of my bags...so...I am awaiting their delivery tomorrow morning and Saturday morning. Although this is a little bit of an inconvenience, it seems really relaxed here and I am not that worried about it. I am just so happy to be here, I can't believe it!

I finally made my way to El Provencio by way of bus and foot and am currently in Pension Valero Hostel :). After I got off the bus, I proceeded to ask anyone that I ran into where the hostel was until I found it.  That worked out pretty well, especially because the first people I talked to told me to keep following the carretera and to ask more people along the way :).  People seem pretty friendly here.

On the way here, I was thinking about how cool it is to see everything in Spanish. It's like a good surprise every time I look up—a reminder that right now I am where I have wanted to be for years and years. My dream is finally coming true! So although I do not have my luggage and I desperately just want to go to sleep as it is 3:00 am for me, I can't be irritated or annoyed even if I tried. I am just too happy for that, plain and simple, and so very thankful.

I had a really good past couple of days! I got to visit with my good friend Stina and my cousin Beth (and her kiddos!), they both live in NY and I had a long layover there. Then I hopped on the plane to Madrid, and you know, the 6+ hour flight wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was over before I knew it, which was awesome because I REALLY don't like flying. After coming to terms with the fact that I was not going to find my luggage any time soon, I decided to continue on to El Provencio. I was way to exhausted to figure out where the metro station was, so I took a cab (more expensive, but less brain usage). I'm glad I took the cab though, because I saw the sun rise, and had a nice chat with the bus driver. He told me I was “muy bella—bery preety” and that I won't have a hard time finding a Spanish boyfriend. WOO HOO! Haha

I can already feel that I am going to love it here. I can also already tell that people drive like maniacs everywhere in the world. There is nowhere where this does not happen :).

Wow, I can't believe that I'm here already—I'm in SPAIN. I'm in a totally different country and I feel so so good. I think I'll end this entry here because I could probably go on for much longer about how I happy I am to be here, so enough gushing!

Until next time!
