I've arrived!!

Well, I am in Spain! Without my luggage...but still in Spain. Apparently Delta airlines doesn't like me very much. In Detroit they told me my luggage would go to Spain, and then in New York they reassured me that my bags would meet me in Spain, however they did not. I was told that they were still in New York! So, I went to the bus station and bought a ticket, and lo and behold, I get a phone call that they have one of my bags...so...I am awaiting their delivery tomorrow morning and Saturday morning. Although this is a little bit of an inconvenience, it seems really relaxed here and I am not that worried about it. I am just so happy to be here, I can't believe it!

I finally made my way to El Provencio by way of bus and foot and am currently in Pension Valero Hostel :). After I got off the bus, I proceeded to ask anyone that I ran into where the hostel was until I found it.  That worked out pretty well, especially because the first people I talked to told me to keep following the carretera and to ask more people along the way :).  People seem pretty friendly here.

On the way here, I was thinking about how cool it is to see everything in Spanish. It's like a good surprise every time I look up—a reminder that right now I am where I have wanted to be for years and years. My dream is finally coming true! So although I do not have my luggage and I desperately just want to go to sleep as it is 3:00 am for me, I can't be irritated or annoyed even if I tried. I am just too happy for that, plain and simple, and so very thankful.

I had a really good past couple of days! I got to visit with my good friend Stina and my cousin Beth (and her kiddos!), they both live in NY and I had a long layover there. Then I hopped on the plane to Madrid, and you know, the 6+ hour flight wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was over before I knew it, which was awesome because I REALLY don't like flying. After coming to terms with the fact that I was not going to find my luggage any time soon, I decided to continue on to El Provencio. I was way to exhausted to figure out where the metro station was, so I took a cab (more expensive, but less brain usage). I'm glad I took the cab though, because I saw the sun rise, and had a nice chat with the bus driver. He told me I was “muy bella—bery preety” and that I won't have a hard time finding a Spanish boyfriend. WOO HOO! Haha

I can already feel that I am going to love it here. I can also already tell that people drive like maniacs everywhere in the world. There is nowhere where this does not happen :).

Wow, I can't believe that I'm here already—I'm in SPAIN. I'm in a totally different country and I feel so so good. I think I'll end this entry here because I could probably go on for much longer about how I happy I am to be here, so enough gushing!

Until next time!

The night before....

So, tomorrow I begin my adventure to Spain, and I really could not be more excited! I have a 22 hr stop in New York, so I am going to spend some good quality time with my lovely friend Stina and visit with my cousin Beth as well!  I don't feel that nervous or scared yet, just so excited, blessed, happy! to be going to a different country and experiencing what life is like there :).  I am feeling very ready for this change and I am welcoming the opportunity to travel with open arms!

Traveling has always been one of my passions in life--I love experiencing different cultures and seeing new places. In the past four years, I haven't spent more than a few weeks at home without a plan to go somewhere else, which is why my mom will frequently sing "correcaminos...beep beep!", which is her imitation of the roadrunner :).  I decided to title my blog after this because I think it describes me right now, and I'm alright with that :).

Anyway, I am going to try and update this as much as possible to keep you guys in touch with what I am doing, so if you're interested in reading, it is here for your pleasure!

I also wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to all of my friends and family who have given me so much support and many many prayers.  I wouldn't be able to step out there without so much support--thank you!
